Some details about my fiction writing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I started trying to write fiction when I was 12 years old, when I convinced my parents to buy me a secondhand typewriter, on which I wrote my first (unpublishable!) novel Atlantia.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In my teens and early 20s I had some success in the science fiction field, with a number of short stories published in professional magazines and anthologies, as detailed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 1975, I was extremely fortunate to attend the Writer\u2019s Workshop held by Ursula Le Guin at Booth Lodge, an amazing and transformative experience. The same year, I was in charge of organising the Hugo Awards at the World SF Convention held in Melbourne that year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is a bibliography of the stories I sold at that period:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since retiring a few years ago, I\u2019ve returned to my old love of writing fiction. I\u2019ve written more than 90 short stories in a variety of genres since 2011, as well as working hard on a science fiction novel.
